Policies & Procedures...

Thank you for letting Wildflower serve your family's pet healthcare needs.
It is really important that you understand what a home visit entails, and how you can best prepare your home and pet before we arrive. We do ask that you prepare a clean, safe, professional environment for our team to work inside your home. We are not able to work around drugs or alcohol, unsafe or unsanitary conditions and do refuse the right to provide service at any time. While not ever an issue, we do want to get that out right in front and be done! Now, let's get to the details that will make things easier on you!

1.  Feel free to contact us!

Our business hours are Sun-Thurs 9am-6pm, and all messages will be returned within 24 business hours.

Email is always the best option!  You can text, but sometimes we don't get the messages when we are serving clients in rural areas, and we are not able to manage it as quickly. We often get requests for phone calls - because we are often in houses and the team is working from different locations, we do all communication in email and text because everyone can see what we have talked about and serve you better. We also are not able to navigate traffic, guarantee reception, or write down important details while driving.

The entire team helps with scheduling, answering emails, and checking in - know that we are all here to help in any way we can, but that it may take a couple hours between visits to respond. If you have an emergency, please do not wait on us, but take your kiddo directly to the nearest emergency center. Quickest way to find the facility nearest you is the emergency tab on our website (www.wildflowermobilevet.com).

2.  What to Expect: After scheduling an appointment, you will always get a confirmation like this via email telling you your appointment has been scheduled.  You may get a text and email reminder depending on how far in advance you have scheduled your appointment - we appreciate you confirming at that time to let us know you are still planning on being at home for the appointment time. The software will keep sending a reminder until you confirm! ;)  We don't want to show up at your house and no one will be home - we don't get your pet treated, and you will still be responsible for the travel/exam fee.
After this confirmation, you will not hear from us again until we arrive unless we hit a snag with traffic!  We do our best to be on time, but ask for the grace to be 10-15 minutes either side of the appointment time.  We will text if we are not going to hit the arrival time on the dot! :)

Dr. Desiree (& the team depending on the day) will then bring all equipment to your house.
It is extremely helpful to know what exactly you need from us at each visit, as well as any fear/aggression issues at the vet in the past. Not only does it allow us to approach your pet to minimize stress, it also keeps everyone safe. Secondarily, we schedule each appointment block based on the number of animals you have requested to be seen. When we get there and one is added to the visit, it throws off every client behind you. We will ALWAYS do our best to accommodate if you can let us know ahead of time, but may have to schedule a different time/day for the additional pets if we don't plan for them. We appreciate all information ahead of time to prepare well!!
Should we encounter aggression or behavior that makes the visit unsafe, Dr. Desiree may offer sedation as an alternative.   We do our best to avoid this, but know that the safety and wellbeing of your pet and all the humans remains paramount!

3.  How to prepare your pet! If we are coming for wellness, don't forget to save us a fecal sample that is fresh within 24 hours! ;) We need about a teaspoon size sample, and you can save it in a pet waste bag.
We want your kiddo to feel as comfortable as possible, and you can help to make the environment as peaceful as possible! They will take their cues from you, their people, so if you are calm they will feel safe!
As far as the environment, create an area in their favorite room of the house, on the back porch, or the garage where they feel at home. This needs to be on the first floor in a clean and uncluttered well lit area so that we examine them!
If they are small (less than 40#), we ask that you prepare a counter or table top where they can be seen.  Many families will put a towel or blanket out.
If they are larger, please have them on a leash for their visit when the doctor arrives if they are nervous or are prone to jumping. We will arrive carrying a large amount of heavy equipment and cannot protect our legs. ;)  Having their bed available helps some animals feel at ease. Securing all other animals in another room helps tremendously so that they are not trampling our equipment or causing stress to your kiddo while they get examined!
If they are on a special diet and cannot have the treats that we bring, please have some available so we don't upset tummies with the milkbones, temptations, and pill pockets that we bring.
We ask that all cats are confined to a small clean bathroom or other small area PRIOR to our arrival as they are super smart and like to hide! :) We promise - they know what a vet truck sounds like. :) We will NOT help to catch cats (aka under beds) if they are not secured before the visit as this makes them more stressed, and creates animosity to our team which increases fear based aggression and the likelihood that they (or our team) will be hurt during struggling. If you are concerned about this, we would be glad to talk through fear-free medications prior to the visit. If we are coming for wellness or illness and a blood or urine sample is needed, please make sure they are in the bathroom with no rugs or towels at least 30 minutes prior to exam.
With all that being said - take a deep breath and enjoy not having to travel, wait in the lobby, hold them in the exam room, and spend your whole day on the visit - most animals LOVE their home visits and each time we visit it gets easier and easier!

4.  Cancellation Policy:  We will charge the $175 no show/late cancellation fee to any appointments cancelled within 72 hours of appointment time unless you have contacted us with illness or emergency, or if we arrive and you are not home.  We understand life happens, and will work with you to help as much as possible if you give us as much notice as you can. We will not book any future appointments until that charge is paid.

5.  Forms of Payment Accepted:  We take cash, check, all cards, Zelle, and PayPal. Starting Jan. 1st we will be offering a 3.5% cash discount (cash, check or Zelle) - we know every bit helps! ;)

6.  COVID Information:  Because of COVID-19 we are glad to do any exams outside or in the garage area if you would prefer.  We will wear masks and do our best to social distance.  Please let us know prior to our visit if anyone in the home has been exposed - we will not charge a cancellation fee, and greatly appreciate your care.  Wildflower serves many families that are immuno-compromised and we do our best to be as safe as possible.  If we arrive at your home and someone is ill, we will charge the cancellation fee and not enter the home.

7. What Happens After the Visit:  We will send your receipt at checkout before we leave, and you will get any follow up notes, bloodwork results, and prescriptions in the days following.  Our team will check in with you a few days after the visit via email to make sure you don' t have any questions that may have popped up.  You will have access to all your records on the "Pet Page" app for boarding, grooming, and your records.

We are here anytime you need us - please feel free to email ([email protected]) or text at 469-301-2973.

Thanks again for contacting us - we will see you soon!

Thanks,
Dr. Desiree & the Team
