Fall 2022 Update...

Here at Wildflower we do our best to make sure you and your family (and ours too!) remains as up to date and safe if possible.  There are some things you should know about general home visits! Here is what will keep you in the loop, and make you a pro before we even arrive!

1.  We have returned to indoor visits, but are still glad to visit outside!  We will be wearing masks in your home since it's cold and flu season and we want to protect all our families - many have a reason we see them at home (think chemo or dialysis)!  For nervous animals, we ask that you have them on a leash prior to the doorbell ringing - this helps make the visit much better - we promise.  Please be prepared to leash or halter your animals one-by-one, and bring them out to us for their exam.  Having them all in one area makes it more likely for the stress to run over into the visit for your nervous nelly, so if you can put everyone else out or in another room we can better examine each kiddo!  We suggest a clean blanket on the floor where we can all be comfortable for large dogs, a blanket or towel on a table or counter for smaller kiddos.  Don't forget special treats if your kiddos have tummy issues, and please save us a fecal sample if we are seeing you for wellness.  If you prefer to do the visit outside, we are ok with that too. What's better than a doctors visit, dog treats, and some vitamin-D? (We say nothing!) :)

2.  Cats, they always have to be the odd one out, right? :) We are continuing to ask that CATS are confined PRIOR to our visit in a small clean first floor bathroom or in a crate in the garage.  (Trust us, they know we are coming!) If you have options for a bathroom, please make it the smallest room and the one that is used the least by humans.  Giving them a clean towel  to lay on from your home is also helpful.  Please let us know ahead of time about how visits have gone in the past - kitties are either pretending we don't exist or trying to make us not! ;) It really helps us to know how to make them as comfortable as possible and what we need to bring in with us if we have all the facts ahead of time. If there has been fear or aggression at any visit in the past, we would love to try to help that...but we need to know about it! We will do ALL paperwork, talking, and make a plan outside the room prior to going in, and enter with only the necessities for cats.  We will slip in, share some catnip, and take care of your purr-fect kitty in no time. :)  Again, if we are there for wellness, don't forget to save us a fecal sample when cleaning that litter box - it's our favorite!

3.  We aren't hugging right now.  If you know Dr. Desiree, this is a HARD thing for her, so feel free to remind her! :)  Kidding - she wont forget, but please know that we are observing social distancing to every degree possible.  We ask you to be aware of that as well, and not to be offended when we move out of arms length!

4.  We care about our patients PEOPLE too!  And MANY of our clients are loving their golden years, fighting bravely against disease, or have some other reason that a home vet visit is a necessity for them more so than their animal.  So, PLEASE,  if you are sick, have been exposed to something, or otherwise feel like you should let us know that being around you is not safe for our most immunocompromised humans, PLEASE tell us AHEAD of the visit.  Remember your sweet frail grandma - the one who you would do anything for?  That is EXACTLY who we are working so hard to protect.

We are all in this together, and love serving you.  In the worst of times, the best in humanity emerges.  We know this will be one of those times in history.  Know the team is praying for you, look forward to seeing you soon!
